These are the last of the photos for the year, and for this blog …
I've been walking and riding my bike most every day around the neighborhood. The pool is getting a bit too cold most days, and I need some kind of exercise to keep me from falling into a funk. For more than a year my doctors have told me not to walk for exercise. Now I have a doctor who says that she thinks my bones are strong enough. It's really good to be back on my bike.
This is one of the sites from the neighborhood ...
… and this is the fish the John caught with the rod, line and reel that David sent, Oompa's swivel and his own lure. (John knows the particular lure that the fish in the canal always bite on.)
View from the back porch of the painted bunting at the bird feeder and bath. Jubilee tries to keep the squirrels away.

Once again, we were invited to celebrate Xmas with the Baran family.
A beautiful table:
Lucy in her Xmas finery ...
The girls ...
Lucy posing again ...
Hathaway ...
A game of corn hole ...
The chocolate cream pie!
… a little closer ...
After dinner entertainment with 4 hands!

view of Chicago
I wasn't sure if John was going to make it home for Thanksgiving. First, the snow in Pittsburgh threatened to make the drive to the airport treacherous, but fortunately it wasn't as cold as expected, so that part went smoothly.
Then, John was flying into Chicago and had only 1/2 hour to make it to the last flight for West Palm Beach. I'm watching all this from my computer and can see that his flight was going to be late getting to Chicago. I figured he would just have go to his cousin Mary Lou's house in Chicago for Thanksgiving dinner.
Well, they did get to Chicago with just 10 minutes until the connecting plane (in another terminal) was scheduled to leave (on time) for WPB. They let John and another woman off of the plane first, where he fast-walked and made it!
I didn't get a call, so I watched the plane in real time make its way South, and Jubilee and I set out to get him at about 9:30pm. He made it home!

Thanksgiving 2013
We went to Sandy and Frank's house to join the motley crew of those with no place to go! A good time.

Ready for Halloween
Except for buying some candy, Jubilee and I are ready for the Trick or Treaters!
We didn't get any souvenirs from our trip to the Southwest, but I did pick up these petroglyphs at the Cortez Cultural Center, and have found a spot for them on the back of my very cool car …
Now, not only do I have surfer seat covers, I have depictions of rock engravings on my back window!

home again, home again, diggety dog!
There were delays, cancellations. I began to wonder if we would ever get home. But we finally got on a plane and left Albuquerque ...
That's Houston down there … (one of our multiple stops)
Finally coming across western coast of Florida. We waved to Eric, Dawn and Reighn down there!
At last to Fort Lauderdale … (wouldn't have found our car in long term parking if I hadn't taken that photo of the palm trees where we waited for the bus!)
Home again, home again, diggety dog!
Finis!

catching up
It's been a very strange few weeks, that included brain surgery for me, some rainy Florida days, John's trip back to PA to close up the apartment up there and bring back his stuff. I need to get this blog into active mode again, so here goes.
This is the photo from my first room at the University of Miami Hospital where they took a fairly large tumor (yes, it was breast cancer) from my head.
I knew this was a good photo - Dish material - so I submitted and sure enough, Andrew Sullivan ran it as a View from Your Window a couple of weeks later ...

John settled in to be an excellent nurse, cook and dog walker. Who knows how I would have made it without him!
A week after the surgery, while I was still revved up on steroids, we ventured down to WPB for the Harmonies from the Heart concert.
This is Norman, who has such a rich, deep sense about him. He is like an Old Testament prophet.
These are the meatballs we made one night.
This is how I looked a week after brain surgery. I had not yet crashed from the steroid withdrawal.
And this is the lovely Harriet Himmel Theatre at night.
