Ojo Caliente

From Abiqui we headed over to Ojo Caliente, a hot springs/spa kind of place.  We had a very nice room there.

This is the view from our back patio.  I'm struck by the preponderance of sticks and stones everywhere, which is really quite pleasing and a change from the lush tropical landscaping of Florida.
This is the view from our front window ...
 The last working telephone booth??
We headed over to the pool and "pools".  There were several hot tub like pools, all supposedly with different minerals.  One was nothing but mud.

I don't want to be negative or critical, but it seemed to us that there was something off in the "energy" of this place.  We have been to great natural hot springs in Montana and Iceland, and Ojo Caliente was missing something.  Perhaps too much a new age influence, like this rock labyrinth that no one used - how do you use it anyway?  I can't quite put my finger on what made the place feel "off" and not authentic.  John says that it is because the water in the pools was not hot enough.  Maybe it's just one of my own peculiarities.

    1. Yes. It's actually not a bad place, just felt "off" to me. There were a lot of people that looked to be enjoying themselves there. In my opinion Americans do not do the mineral springs/spa enough, or it's too expensive and just for the few. It's much more integrated into life in Europe ...
